About The Position

We are currently seeking a qualified Mechanical Design Engineer. Successful candidates will be members of a highly motivated, multi-disciplined, cross-functional hardware design and analysis team. Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to: Electromechanical packaging, design, analysis, and test for harsh and rugged environments Modification of existing and/or creation of new designs including racks, shelters, enclosures, airborne, shipborne, and rack-mount chassis, and circuit card assemblies (CCAs) Ensure new designs progress according to technical objectives, within budgetary and schedule constraints Assist in specification creation, the proposal process, and presentations to customers or management

Requirements

  • To be eligible, applicants must be pursuing a Mater's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or have completed their Master's degree within the last 12 months, regardless of age.
  • Proficient in CAD and drafting standards, or 2+ years relevant experience. (Siemens’ NX, preferred.)
  • Working knowledge with FEA theory and application for thermal and structural anlaysis of electronics. (ANSYS experience preferred)
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills (written and verbal) are necessary.
  • Experience with environmental testing, ie. shock, random vibration, temperature/altitude, Environmental Stress Screening (ESS).
  • Experience with GD&T, tolerance analysis, and ASME drawing practices and standards.
  • Proficient with electronics cooling methods and strong background in heat transfer (conduction, convection, radiation) applied to electronics packaging and reliability
  • Experience with additive and traditional manufacturing methods is a must.
  • Must be available to work overtime and weekends when required
  • Strong work ethic; maintain a sense of urgency to ensure obligations are met

Nice To Haves

  • Design experience with Open Standards: VITA, VME, PMC and mixed signal board design (RF and Digital) is preferred
