About The Position

The Architectural Engineer (AE) will provide conceptual and detailed design of building architecture for the new product development team. This role involves working with local agencies to ensure compliance with federal, state, and municipal requirements and building codes. The AE will be responsible for the detailed design of mechanical parts, including wall and floor penetrations, doors and door hardware, flashing and sealing, and water mitigation. The position requires creating designs that meet or exceed Vertiv quality requirements while adhering to budgetary constraints. The AE will provide a detailed Schematic Design (SD), Detail Design (DD), and Construction Drawing (CD) narrative for architectural design aspects of the solution, review and approve architectural product submittals, and coordinate with the Mechanical Engineer on thermal transfer calculations. The role also includes material specification, project scope definition, technical support during construction phases, and quality control during execution. The AE will travel to fabricators' facilities for design validation and workmanship audits and may communicate with customers to design optimal solutions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Architectural Engineering or acceptable experience
  • Professional engineering (PE) License – optional
  • Minimum 4 years of Architectural engineering experience
  • Knowledge of local, state, & federal codes governing the installation and use of low voltage switchboards/switchgear
  • Working knowledge in AutoCAD and Autodesk Revit
  • Proven experience with Microsoft Office Applications
  • Experience reading and interpreting construction drawings and equipment specifications
  • Knowledge and understanding of local and national building codes
  • Ability to interpret customer specification requirements
  • Ability to research new designs, technologies, and construction methods of data center equipment and facilities
  • Ability to think creatively to find innovative solutions to reduce costs without impacting quality, reliability, or maintainability
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal

Responsibilities

  • Serve as Architectural Engineer (AE) to provide conceptual and detailed design of building architecture for new product development team
  • Work with local agencies to ensure compliance with federal, state, and municipal requirements and building codes
  • Detailed design of mechanical parts including wall and floor penetrations, doors and door hardware, flashing and sealing, and water mitigation
  • Create designs that meet or exceed Vertiv quality requirements and fall within budgetary requirements
  • Provide a detailed Schematic Design (SD), Detail Design (DD), and Construction Drawing (CD) narrative for architectural design aspects
  • Review and approve architectural product submittals
  • Coordinate with Mechanical Engineer on thermal transfer calculations
  • Specify materials for architectural and finish
  • Work with business units, Business Partners, and preferred vendors to specify appropriate material specifications and sizes
  • Define project scope and provide technical support for information requests during construction phases
  • Coordinate between structural and civil work design
  • Provide technical project coordination with customers and suppliers
  • Ensure quality control during execution
  • Support on-site module repairs
  • Travel to fabricators' facilities for design validation and workmanship audits
  • Communicate with customers to design optimal solutions
  • Offer creative, out-of-the-box solutions to customers
