About The Position

Kamatics is seeking a Senior Applications Engineer to lead the design and development of bearing solutions for complex customer applications. This role serves as a key technical interface between customers, Sales, and internal engineering teams, ensuring solutions meet performance, cost, quality, and timeline requirements. The Senior Applications Engineer will manage projects, support business development efforts, and provide technical expertise throughout the product lifecycle.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Aeronautical, Metallurgical, or Civil Engineering required; Master’s degree preferred.
• 5–8+ years of experience in mechanical design and/or applications engineering within a manufacturing environment
• Experience supporting customer-facing engineering or applications roles
• Background working with precision components and tight tolerances
• Proficiency with CAD software (SolidWorks, NX, or similar)
• Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills
• Advanced 3D modeling and design capabilities
• Blueprint reading and interpretation
• Experience with testing/validation methods and technical reporting
• Proficiency with precision measurement tools (micrometers, calipers)
• Strong communication skills with the ability to present technical concepts clearly
• Results-oriented with strong project management and organizational skills
• Ability to collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, sales, and customers
• Occasional lifting of materials up to 50 lbs (15–40%)
• Frequent visual and mental concentration
• Ability to work a flexible schedule as needed
• Up to 10% travel
• This position requires access to information subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). Employment is contingent upon the applicant being a “U.S. person” as defined by ITAR (22 CFR §120.15), which includes U.S. citizens, lawful permanent residents, refugees, or asylees, as required by U.S. export control laws.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design of complex bearing solutions and generate proposal drawings using CAD software to meet customer requirements.
• Serve as the primary technical point of contact for customers, addressing inquiries and supporting application development.
• Partner closely with Sales to define product requirements, develop proposals, and support customer engagement efforts.
• Create and deliver technical presentations to customers and internal stakeholders, including detailed design reviews and product discussions.
• Develop and execute project plans for customer-driven and internal product development initiatives, ensuring alignment with cost, quality, and timeline goals.
• Generate cost estimates and collaborate with suppliers to obtain technical information on materials, processes, and capabilities.
• Develop test plans and review test results to validate product performance and support customer requirements.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives and recommend enhancements to design and engineering processes.
• Maintain a high level of responsiveness and service to both internal and external customers.
• Support a safe and organized work environment in accordance with company policies.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.
