About The Position

The Advanced Application Engineer plays a critical role in designing and deploying site-level applications for refrigeration and building automation systems. This position involves integrating new equipment, conducting hands-on testing, and resolving complex software and hardware issues. Success in this role requires creativity, technical precision, adherence to Honeywell and industry best practices, and a strong focus on safety and efficiency. You will report directly to the Multisite Engineering Manager. LOCATION: This role is on a hybrid schedule (3 days in office, 2 days' work from home) and can be worked from either the Independence, Ohio or Bentonville, Arkansas location.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • 4+ years of experience in refrigeration or building automation controls, including site-level application development, programming, installation, and troubleshooting with a proficiency in interpreting architectural, electrical, and mechanical drawings.

Nice To Haves

  • Hands-on experience working with engineering teams, contractors, project managers, and end users.
  • Experience with Tridium Niagara-based system development and configuration.
  • Strong diagnostic skills in HVAC and refrigeration systems.
  • Familiarity with networking protocols such as LAN, BACnet, and Modbus.
  • Knowledge of HVAC, grocery store refrigeration algorithms, TCO2 systems, energy management strategies, and PID loop tuning.
  • Tridium Niagara N4 TCP and/or Developer certification.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop site-specific applications tailored to customer requirements for refrigeration and building automation.
  • Integrate Honeywell and third-party equipment into Tridium Niagara-based platforms.
  • Install, configure, and validate applications in the TCO2 lab or benchtop environments.
  • Conduct in-depth troubleshooting of software and hardware systems.
  • Interpret architectural, electrical, and mechanical drawings to ensure accurate design and implementation.
  • Translate MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing) design specifications into streamlined applications requiring minimal site-level programming.
  • Collaborate with Honeywell RD&E, Programming teams, Offering Management, and end users to define project scope, provide technical support, and resolve issues.
  • Support pilot installations remotely, including initial programming and handoff of Honeywell Multisite applications.
  • Diagnose and resolve technical issues related to HVAC, refrigeration, and automation systems, including controllers and PLCs.
  • Ensure all work complies with relevant codes, standards, and safety regulations.
  • Create and maintain comprehensive documentation, including user guides, technical bulletins, program files, and logs.
  • Recommend improvements for technical processes and business operations.
