About The Position

The Senior Analytics Consultant - Medical Economics role supports medical cost trend analysis for the Government Business segment, with a primary focus on the Medicare Advantage business. This role is responsible for developing in-depth medical expense analyses, conducting detailed data drill-downs to identify key trend drivers, and executing strategic initiatives designed to address medical cost trends. This position offers exposure to a broad spectrum of the organization, with findings and reports shared across various departments including but not limited to: Finance, Risk Management, Operations, Contracting, Provider Relations, Health Services, Product, Clinical, and local market leadership.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and 6 years of experience in health care services, statistical analysis, or insurance industry economics or related field OR Master's degree with 4 years of experience OR PhD with 2 years of experience OR 10 years of experience in the relevant fields.
  • Understanding and proficiency in querying a wide variety of internal and external data sources.
  • Strong analytical skills and proficiency in computer languages such as SQL, Python, R.
  • Ability to create dynamic and visually engaging dashboards using data visualization tools like Tableau or Power BI.
  • High degree of business intelligence and understanding of taking a business case from inception to execution.
  • Experience leading an analytic initiative to success.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to work under pressure and deliver high-quality output to senior leadership within short timelines.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with CMS healthcare data (e.g., MMR, Claims, Eligibility, Provider).
  • Experience with CMS payment methodologies (e.g., IPPS, OPPS).
  • Familiarity with medical and pharmacy claims, ICD10, DRG, APC, HCPCS, and/or CPT.
  • Experience with Teradata, Hadoop, or other big data platforms.
