About the position

As a vital member of our team, you will collaborate closely with regional teams to deliver on our voluntary and mandatory reporting obligations. This role focuses on developing and implementing processes to ensure the accuracy of quantitative and qualitative evidence, enhancing cocoa metrics assurance, and improving the quality of disclosures. You will lead digital transformation efforts in the collection and handling of cocoa sustainability data, support data-driven decision-making, and enhance traceability within the cocoa supply chain in alignment with regulatory mandates and enterprise priorities.

Responsibilities

• Develop and document processes for data collection, sharing, processing, analytics, and visualizations, including management of PI/PII and sensitive data.
• Recommend opportunities to increase the robustness of data management practices across different cocoa growing regions.
• Lead relationships with data suppliers to drive data accuracy and completeness, minimizing disruptions to reporting processes.
• Perform root cause analysis for reporting issues and develop improvement plans.
• Deliver increased analytical capabilities to leverage existing data sources effectively.
• Digitize secondary data sources, such as extracting information from pdf files.
• Identify opportunities for standardization and automation to increase speed to action.
• Review emerging methodologies for environmental analytics and make recommendations for continuous improvement.
• Support the development of tools to increase documentary and physical traceability in line with enterprise commitments and regulatory expectations.
• Develop and execute a strategic roadmap for cocoa data to meet compliance requirements and identify strategic opportunities.
• Collaborate with the cocoa data analyst to enhance the analytical value of collected data.
• Assist in defining new report requirements and develop scorecards, dashboards, and visualizations for data-driven decision making.
• Collaborate in enterprise-wide initiatives like the ESG-IS roadmap.
• Establish and manage a proactive approach to narrative reporting across the cocoa team.
• Deliver agile project management for the cocoa team's contributions to mandatory and voluntary disclosures.
• Foster accountability among implementing partners and streamline reporting procedures.
• Support accurate and timely reporting of ESG metrics and maintain disclosure control procedures.
• Increase assurance of cocoa sustainability data and improve the quality of disclosures.
• Establish controls for the quality of Hershey-issued materials and approval processes for references to Hershey.
• Prepare internal briefing materials that convey strategic insights to executive audiences.
• Identify opportunities for emerging technologies to support the cocoa strategic vision.
• Build capacity in the cocoa team for data-driven decision-making and ensure tool adoption.
• Participate in cross-functional teams and represent Hershey in external working groups.

Requirements

• Expertise in applied data science.
• Knowledge of relational and non-relational databases (e.g., Snowflake, Databricks, Azure Data solutions).
• Attention to detail and high analytical skills.
• Strategic thinking capabilities.
• Excellent interpersonal skills for collaboration with diverse stakeholders.
• Excellent communication skills for conveying complex concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
• Demonstrated ability to learn new technical areas and train others.
• Willingness to travel internationally to rural cocoa farming areas.
• Fluency in English; proficiency in French and Spanish is preferred.
• Bachelor's degree in computer science, data science, information systems, information technology, engineering, or a related field.
• 10+ years' experience with data analytics and visualization, including data mining, modeling, and forecasting.
• 10+ years' experience developing and maintaining a reporting ecosystem.
• 10+ years' experience working with business owners to maintain and optimize key performance indicators.
• Experience in high-performing agile delivery methodologies.
• Experience in mapping and improving business processes.
