About The Position

The Senior Analyst I on the Business Intelligence team provides reporting and information to our business partners. Work closely with credit union personnel and business partners to identify and maximize opportunities to create monitoring and reporting using information to improve products, services and/or business processes. This includes gathering, preparing, analyzing, and summarizing data from multiple systems or external sources for into visualizations for management’s reference to guide strategic development. This is a senior level analyst with Golden 1 Credit Union, and you will work with leadership or other analysts on highly complex analysis to impact corporate goals using our data. You will also act as a leader on the team working as a subject matter expert and as a technical expert within our team and with our business partners. Projects will require the use of critical thinking and communication to complete, along with technical skills including SQL, PowerBI and Excel. An understanding of how to use SAS Enterprise Guide, R or Python for statistical work or data manipulation is also expected. You will also need to be able to quickly understand, clean and interpret data for use in the reporting.

Requirements

Requires a bachelor's degree in area of specialty (Accounting, Mathematics, Business Administration, Information Technology, or similarly quantitative/analytical degrees). Equivalent work experience with required knowledge/skills may be substituted for degree.
8+ years or more of progressive banking/credit union experience.
8+ years of Analytical Experience.
Knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures within credit union operations.
Required-Expert knowledge in the following systems/applications: Microsoft Excel- Formulas, functions, pivot tables, dashboard creation, data connections and automation with macros PDF Creation/Editing (Nitro Pro) Microsoft Power BI - Building Visuals using existing Datasets, Power BI Desktop to build datasets and complex reporting and DAX Programming. SQL Programming - Select Statements, Joins, Aggregating Data, temp tables, and complex querying.
Effective oral and written communication skills required to assist other staff, share reports, coach staff, communicate clearly with management, and perform other related tasks.
Must possess sufficient manual dexterity to skillfully operate standard office equipment, such as financial calculators, personal computer, and telephone.
Prolonged sitting throughout the workday with occasional mobility required.
Corrected vision within the normal range.
Hearing within normal range.
Ability to lift 15 lbs. as may be required.
Occasional movements throughout the department daily to interact with staff, accomplish tasks, etc.

Nice To Haves

Preferred- knowledge in the following systems/applications: SAS Enterprise Guide - Data Manipulation and transformation, data aggregation using the GUI tool, basic SAS programming. Python and/or R Programming - data aggregation and data manipulation along with quantitative analysis and modeling. Power Automate - Create and automate workflows that augment the reporting to make it more automated. VBA Coding to support automation of tasks.
Preferred: Data Analytics Certification like: Certified Analytics Professional (CAP), IBM Data Science Professional Certificate, Datacamp Analyst Certification, Microsoft Data Analyst Associate Certification, SQL Certification, or other graduate work in the fields of finance, business intelligence or data analytics.

Responsibilities

Create data storytelling, converting data into usable information to assist the Credit Union in making data driven decisions.
Assist Leadership and Senior Analysts with complex analysis integrated into reporting, using data to add value to our business partners.
Using PowerBI, create visuals that will assist Senor Management with business decisions.
Using PowerBI, Excel and SQL, aggregate multiple data sources into a single story to summarize the results of a review into actionable points for Senior Management.
Develop reports for executive management and credit union committees, ensuring that the reports are accurate and thorough.
Assist with automation of Excel based reports.
Assist with requirement gathering using interviews, document analysis, use cases, scenarios, and workflow analysis.
Continue to expand on an understanding of lending/deposit rates, policies and procedures impacting responsibilities.
Update procedures in response to changes in operational activities or technological upgrades.
Perform reviews or validations of Business Intelligence Analyst I work prior to, or in lieu of, review by Team Leadership.
Ensure compliance with applicable standards, rules, regulations, and systems of internal control.
Work with Leadership and with other Analysts on complex analysis, using data to add value to our business partners.
Use Statistical concepts and tools to find causation, patterns, and trends.
Assist with modeling and model creation to solve complex problems.
Recommend enhancements to analytical modeling tools to further support strategic plans and initiatives.
Proactively communicate and collaborate with external and internal customers to analyze information needs and functional requirements for projects.
Develop and Recommend Internal Controls improvements.
Lead complex analysis projects, coordinating and delegating work to Jr Analysts and business partners to ensure success.
Utilize advanced data analytics tools and techniques to build periodic trend analysis reports, and present insights and findings that are relevant, actionable, and visually appealing to management.
Review and maintain an understanding of current and future economic landscape and internal and external influences.
Assist with workflow, monitoring the ticketing queue for new work and ensuring it is assigned to the right teammate for success.
Assist with the technical skill growth and business knowledge growth of Jr Analysts.
