The department is committed to maintaining integrity and recognizing the company's successes, ensuring that BNSF remains a leader in the railway industry. Within the Finance Department, several specialized departments contribute to its overall mission: Controller, Revenue Management, Strategic Sourcing, Tax, Treasury, and Strategic Studies. Each department is vital in managing BNSF's financial health and strategic financial planning. These departments work collaboratively to secure BNSF's economic stability and support its growth and innovation within the railway industry. This is a full-time position located in Fort Worth, TX. For certain positions, including this one, employees can work one day per week remotely. Requirements

  • Able to work now and in the future without BNSF’s assistance (whether monetary, through sponsorship, or otherwise) in obtaining, maintaining, or extending employment authorization (including H-1B, STEM OPT/CPT, or TN nonimmigrant status).
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
  • Minimum of 1 year of work experience in public accounting or industry accounting or Finance
  • Attention to detail and ability to do basic analysis
  • Understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
  • Interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to handle multiple demands and adjust to shifting priorities
  • Project management skills

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree in Accounting or Finance
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
  • Public accounting experience
  • Experience with building and automating reports leveraging AI, Power BI, Excel Power Query, SQL, and/or other data tables and tools

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and analyze monthly and quarterly financial reporting packages.
  • Own the accounting and reporting for fuel, including the monthly close and forecasting processes.
  • Manage headcount files, processes, and reporting.
  • Serve as a forecast and close liaison between business partners within Finance and Marketing.
  • Update and maintain cost center hierarchy.
  • Interface with other teams and departments to understand issues and propose solutions.
  • Help lead efforts to modernize and automate our approach to reporting.
  • Assist in the preparation and administration of significant quarterly and annual financial reports.
  • Assist in the preparation and review of various ad hoc financial reporting requests and other special projects.
