Insulet Corporation, maker of the OmniPod, is the world leader of wearable tubeless insulin pumps. With the completion of development and anticipated commercial release of the Horizon automated insulin delivery system, Insulet continues to invest substantially in developing next generation technologies based on the OmniPod platform to reduce burden and improve therapy for diabetes patients. We are seeking a passionate researcher to advance the automated insulin delivery (AID) algorithm for next generation AID system which will greatly simplify patient-pump interactions while achieving better glycemic outcomes. This individual contributor will join the existing algorithm R&D team and be a technical leader primarily responsible for researching and developing robust glucose control algorithms that require little to no user intervention while meeting safe and effective treatment goals.

  • Design and assess new features and safety mitigations for AID algorithm and overall product
  • Analyze clinical device data for algorithm development with proper statistic tools
  • Execute research plans, simulations and experiments to capture the clinical implications of new system features and safety mitigations of the AID system
  • Effectively demonstrate the value and clinical benefits of new features and safety mitigations developed by the algorithm team to key stakeholders
  • Capture key innovations that arise as part of new feature and safety analyses into IP portfolios
  • Collaborate effectively with multiple cross-functional groups within and outside the organization
  • Carry out any additional duties as required related to AID algorithm and product feature level development to achieve critical product development timelines
  • B.S. or Master's degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Chemical Engineering, or a closely related field and 5+ years experience
  • Ph.D. in Electrical and Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Chemical Engineering, or a closely related field preferred, with 2 or more year's academic or industrial research experience in an area related to control and signal processing, or data science
  • Exceptional competence writing software to implement and evaluate research ideas
  • Ability to translate research into real world applications
  • Knowledge and experience in the field of diabetes technology
  • Experience in medical device industry
  • Publications in peer-reviewed journals, and/or professional conference presentations
  • Proficiency in multiple software languages: Matlab, Python, SQL, C/C++, Java
  • Excellent communication skills and collaborative teamwork
  • Remote working arrangements (may work from home/virtually 100%; may also work hybrid on-site/virtual as desired)
