About The Position

Under the direction of the Vice President, Aviation Real Estate, the Sr. Airline Development Specialist has the primary responsibility for managing relationships and leading the engagement between the airport and airline representatives regarding the capital projects that affect airline operations at Dallas Fort Worth International Airport. The key areas of responsibility include managing communication regarding aviation projects, project management, terminal design, planning and operations activities.

Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree from an accredited university in civil engineering, architecture, construction management, or related field.
  • Five (5) plus years of experience in one or more of the following: airport construction, aviation project management, airport properties and facilities management, capital planning, capital management, or a position of comparable responsibility in a business environment.
  • Five (5) plus years of work experience in managing complex relationships, including airport/airline stakeholders.
  • Any equivalent combination of education and/or experience may be substituted for the above.
  • Possession of a valid Class C driver's license.
  • Must obtain a Security Identification Display Area (SIDA) Airport Identification/Access Badge (badge) in accordance with Department of Homeland Security Transportation Security Administration (TSA) requirements in Chapter 49 of the Code of Federal Regulations Part 1500 et al., and DFW Airport’s Airport Security Program within thirty (30) days from date of employment and maintain qualification for a SIDA badge upon each badge renewal.
  • Ability to obtain Department of Homeland Security Customs and Border Protection (CBP) security access clearance within thirty (30) days from date of employment and maintain qualification for CBP security access clearance upon each CBP security access renewal.
  • This is a designated safety sensitive position as defined in DFW Airport’s Drug and Alcohol Administrative Policy and Procedure. Applicants selected for this position will be required to pass a drug test prior to employment and to submit to drug screening on a random basis during the length of their employment in the safety sensitive position.
  • This is a designated Essential Employee position as defined in DFW Airport’s Categories and Classifications Administrative Policy and Procedure. An essential employee is one whose attendance is required to maintain airport operations during an emergency or inclement weather situation.

Responsibilities

  • Manages relationships between airport and airline representatives regarding airport capital projects affecting airline operations at the airport.
  • Represents airport in progress meetings, coordinate design activities, address operational issues and facilitate the development of solutions.
  • Formulates and implements solutions to operational impacts and coordinate resolution with internal and external stakeholders, including airlines, designers, and construction teams.
  • Assists in the development of project phasing plans to minimize operational impacts and address operational issues.
  • Reviews and analyzes conceptual and detailed designs for capital development projects in areas including terminals, airfield, as well as specialty systems such as baggage handling, terminal equipment, and other airport and airline facilities.
  • Reviews project schedules, cost estimates and program budgets, facilitate communication to impacted stakeholders reporting operational impacts, general project information, exceptions, and issues.
  • Manages documentation for the administration and execution of reimbursement agreements for related projects. This includes CIP funding documents, Majority-in-Interest project data sheets, Official Board Actions (OBAs), scope of work descriptions, work authorizations, etc.
  • Monitors the status of construction and coordinate with representatives of the construction team regarding the project status and construction issues.
  • Works directly with airport tenants to coordinate, schedule, and complete facility relocation and/or improvement programs; inspects work while in progress and following completion to ensure the Board’s contract compliance standards are maintained, as-built drawings are received, and information provided to enable lease exhibits to be properly updated by ARE; follows up with responsible parties to resolve open issues.
  • Manages project deliverables and timelines in a highly matrixed organization consisting of consultants, contractors, and other Airport departments.
  • Participates in, supports, and coordinates with project Operational Readiness and Airport Transition (ORAT) team and tenant stakeholders on turn-over and “go live” activities.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
