About The Position

The Sr. AI/ML Consultant will support a team of skilled researchers to help drive advancements in AI/ML research for the Department of Defense. As part of our team, you'll serve as a strategic technical advisor to program managers at the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA), advising on advanced government-funded research and development programs. You’ll work with world-class scientists and engineers to provide strategic assessments of emerging technologies. You will maintain responsibility for producing and presenting findings and recommendations to a team of colleagues and clients on the feasibility and potential impact of future research programs, assisting with the management of current programs, and facilitating the transition of program deliverables to DoD stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Must be able to OBTAIN and MAINTAIN a Federal or DoD "SECRET" security clearance; candidates must obtain approved adjudication of clearance prior to onboarding with Guidehouse. Candidates with an ACTIVE "SECRET" or higher-level clearance are preferred.
  • Master’s degree in STEM field
  • THREE (3) or more years’ experience in AI/ML; including but not limited to:
  • Experience developing, testing, deploying, or characterizing experimental AI systems in an R&D environment
  • Experience with logic and reasoning in the field of Knowledge Representation and Reasoning, including Knowledge Graphs
  • Experience with Large Language Models, Natural Language Processing, and AI-based agent communication protocols
  • Experience transitioning products and/or capabilities to stakeholders
  • Experience authoring, editing, and proofreading technical papers, presentations, reports, and program plans for both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Experience meeting target milestones, timelines, and budgets for projects and programs
  • Doctorate/PhD degree may be used in lieu of required years' experience

Nice To Haves

  • An ACTIVE and MAINTAINED "TOP SECRET/SCI (TS/SCI)" Federal or DoD security clearance
  • Doctorate/PhD degree in a STEM field with zero years of professional experience
  • Experience performing or supporting government-sponsored research activities
  • Experience developing or managing programs/projects related to AI/ML
  • Experience leading and coordinating teams of different experience and technical backgrounds
  • Prior experience working with DARPA
  • Demonstrated engagement with the AI research community through publications in, or consistent attendance at AI conferences, e.g. Association for the Advancement of Artificial Intelligence (AAAI), Conference and Workshop on Neural Information Processing Systems (NeurIPS), etc.
  • Experience with AI interpretability, control, or robustness
  • Knowledge of the DoD program/project development process
  • Experience in transitioning products and or capabilities to DoD-stakeholders
  • Ability to work on tasks quickly, independently, and collaboratively in a team atmosphere
  • Possession of outstanding attention to detail
  • Possession of clear and succinct oral, visual, and written communication skills
