About The Position

The TEGNA Design Tank is seeking a talented Sr level Motion Graphic Designer to join our staff in Denver, CO. This role will be the creative lead and point person on many designs supporting commercial sales initiatives at our stations nationwide. This role requires strong design, animation, leadership, and communication skills. The role will collaborate will be key design liaison between the TEGNA Design tank and TEGNA's centralized marketing team. This person will be responsible for creating designs and templates for a variety of news marketing, promotion and sales-based initiatives for broadcast and streaming. This position works closely with the Creative Director, Art Director, and Design Production Manager, as well as Commercial Production Managers. The Sr. Commercial Sales Designer will receive continuous feedback throughout the project lifecycle.

Requirements

  • Candidate must have had formal training in design/art at trade school or college.
  • Associate or bachelor's degree required.
  • Minimum of 5 years as a Motion Graphic Designer at a local news station supporting marketing and branding, along with daily news.
  • Strong skills in Adobe CC Suite required, specifically After Effects.
  • Editing skill in Premiere is a plus, but not mandatory.
  • C4D is a plus but not mandatory.
  • Demonstrate strong design skills.
  • Strong portfolio showcasing creativity, technical skills, and branding experience.
  • Takes a keen interest in applying artificial intelligence where it makes sense.
  • Must possess strong customer service and communication skills.
  • Able to perform under very tight deadlines, adapt to changing priorities and act as design team lead.
  • Possesses excellent spelling and grammar skills.
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule including days, evenings, weekends and holidays.

Responsibilities

  • Creates high-quality motion graphics, animations, and visual effects that align with project goals and branding and shares best practices at scale.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with regional commercial production managers and commercial producers.
  • Understand their needs and identify opportunities to introduce design best practices to the centralized team.
  • Create and implement new designs within the department, from concept to completion.
  • Serve as an alternate contact for station, commercial production, and corporate projects.
  • Assist with training team members or delegate training appropriately.
  • Guide team projects as the project lead and serve as the design lead for pilot projects and larger scoped initiatives.
  • Serve a diverse range of clients across all TEGNA stations, performing effectively under tight deadlines.
  • Provide guidance and support to other designers, helping to develop their skills and enhance the overall team output.
