About The Position

Make the world's most advanced and critical weapons systems even smarter! As a Sr Advanced Nuclear Weapons Safety Systems Engineer for General Dynamics Mission Systems, you'll lead and be responsible for the safety assessment effort in support of various development programs. You will work in a cross functional team responsible for updating and adding critical functionality to the weapons systems deployed on US Navy vessels. Requirements

  • Requires a Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering, or a related Science, Engineering or Mathematics field.
  • Also requires 8+ years of job-related experience, or a Master's degree plus 6 years of job-related experience.
  • Department of Defense Secret security clearance is obtainable within a reasonable amount of time after hire.
  • Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
  • Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and maintain nuclear safety procedures and policies in accordance with customer requirements.
  • Conduct thorough risk assessments and safety analyses for nuclear and conventional weapons systems and operations.
  • Perform and participate in safety audits, Test events, and evaluations to identify potential hazards and mitigation, ensuring compliance with safety standards.
  • Collaborate with engineering development teams and industry partners to design and implement safety systems and controls into the systems we deploy.
  • Investigate and analyze incidents or near-misses to determine root causes and recommend corrective actions.
  • Provide technical support and guidance on nuclear safety matters to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Prepare and present safety reports, documentation, and recommendations to management and customer stakeholders.
  • Ensure all nuclear weapons safety activities are conducted in accordance with Department of Defense (DoD) regulations and other relevant guidelines.
