About The Position

As a Senior Advanced Mechanical Engineer here at Honeywell, you will play a crucial role in the New Product Introduction (NPI) process, focusing on the design and development of innovative product solutions, mechanical systems and components. Your expertise will drive the successful launch of new products, ensuring they meet performance standards, and are delivered on time to market. In this role, you will be a part of the Productivity Solutions and Services (PSS) business unit, leading product development and engineering initiatives that will support efficiencies across major business verticals including Transportation & Logistics as well as Retail and Warehouse environments. You will report to the Engineering Manager and work a hybrid schedule from our Mount Laurel, NJ or Fort Mill, SC office.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in a technical discipline such as science, technology, engineering, or mathematics.
  • At least 6 years of experience in mechanical engineering with a focus on New Product Introduction (NPI).
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical design principles and methodologies relevant to electro-mechanical packaging, rugged product design and sealing methods.
  • Expertise and understanding of plastic injection molding, sheet metal design, die-casting, thermal environments, shock and vibration.
  • Experience with Direct Manufacturing (ODM) model and ability to operate on a global, cross functional scale at an accelerated pace.
  • Proficiency in CAD software and simulation tools, such as CREO/Teamcenter or ANSYS, to support design and analysis as well as product lifecycle management.
  • Top down and surface modeling as well as advanced assemblies and configurations.
  • Experience with product testing and validation processes to ensure compliance with product design goals and specifications.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the mechanical design and development efforts for new product introductions, ensuring alignment with project timelines and objectives.
  • Responsible for concept, design, and validation efforts throughout the New Product Development process, working with a global cross functional team at an accelerated pace to support market demand.
  • Development of product requirements based on market feedback and VOC to establish best in class product offerings.
  • Build test and validation strategies to meet rugged product environments across multiple verticals and temperature ranges.
  • Management of CAD best practices and development of technical data packages to support Original Direct Manufacturing (ODM) best practices.
  • Manage all aspects of mechanical engineering product design throughout the development process (requirements, tooling DFM, component design and packaging, ruggedization of products).
  • Support an iterative and accelerated design model that includes early feasibility efforts and Industrial Design concepts as well as test and validation debug and mitigation strategies.
  • Proactive approach to lead and initiative design reviews and product design strategies, implementing a winning design architecture based on competitive landscape.
