About The Position

THE FUTURE IS WHAT YOU MAKE IT! As a Sr Advanced Mech Desing Engr, you will provide technical expertise and support in the materials and process engineering of forged product. Work as part of a highly engaged and integrated Materials Engineering team. You will collaborate across Honeywell Aerospace engineering teams to create solutions and systems that meet the evolving needs of our customers. You will participate in all phases of product development and will be a technical point of contact for less experienced engineers. The Materials Engineering position will provide support for new and existing forged products including aerospace gas turbine engines used for propulsion and auxiliary power. You will work out of the Phoenix, AZ facility, on a Hybrid Work schedule, and will report to the Sr Engineering Manager

Requirements

  • Bachelors' Degree with in STEM
  • 6+ years of experience in materials/process engineering in the forging industry
  • 4+ years experience with aluminum, steel, titanium and nickel aerospace wrought alloys

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's Degree with specialization in Materials Science, Material Engineering, Metallurgy, Aerospace Engineering or Mechanical Engineering
  • Advanced degree in engineering or another related field a plus
  • Understanding and hands-on experience in forging (ingot/billet and powder production processes are a plus)
  • Familiarity with industrial materials and processing specifications
  • Familiarity with Nadcap and industry standards, requirements and approvals
  • Capable of assessing new suppliers and determining their strengths and weaknesses
  • Experience with conducting forging audits (ingot/billet and powder production audits are a plus)
  • Working with and developing forging suppliers
  • Experience troubleshooting forging issues, and providing technical solutions for rapid problem solving
  • Liaison work between forging suppliers and Honeywell Engineering, Quality, Supplier Development Engineers (SDE), and Integrated Supply Chain (ISC).
  • Working with Design Engineering to establish "more forgable" new and existing designs
  • Understanding engineering drawings and requirements
  • Experience in Six Sigma, Lean and other process improvement tools
  • Experience with forging simulation tools like DEFORM

Responsibilities

  • Provide support for materials and processes involved in the design and manufacture of forged parts
  • Regularly interact with forging and raw material suppliers to identify requirements and help resolve issues
  • Will be a technical point of contact for junior engineering team members
  • Be able to lift up to 35 lbs. (single carry) to work, inspect, system components and parts
  • Ability to travel up to 20% domestically and internationally to support business requirements
