About The Position

The Sr. Admissions Evaluation Specialist at the University of California, Santa Cruz plays a crucial role in the evaluation of academic records for individuals applying for undergraduate admission, as well as for continuing students. Under the general supervision of the Assistant Director of Evaluations, the incumbent is responsible for analyzing and applying a variety of policies and procedures to determine an applicant's eligibility for admission to the University of California and specifically to UC Santa Cruz. This position requires a thorough understanding of academic programs, admissions requirements, and financial aid programs, as well as the ability to interpret these policies to prospective students and the public. The incumbent will engage in extensive outreach efforts, planning and managing events aimed at enhancing recruitment and yield, particularly focusing on diversity initiatives. This includes scheduling visits to schools, making presentations, and providing in-depth information about admissions requirements and career opportunities. The role also involves counseling and advising various constituents, ensuring that the campus is well-represented in all interactions with prospective students and their families. In addition to the evaluation of applications, the specialist will conduct course-by-course evaluations for transfer credits and research foreign educational systems as needed. The position requires excellent organizational and time management skills, as well as the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions. The incumbent will also be expected to maintain confidentiality and exercise good judgment in handling sensitive student records.
