About The Position

The Sr. Administrative Assistant role at Travelers is essential for providing complex administrative support to senior management. This position involves a wide variety of tasks that are crucial for the organization, communication, facilitation, and scheduling within the department. The successful candidate will handle complex administrative assignments that relieve senior management of routine details, allowing them to focus on higher-level responsibilities. This role requires a high degree of discretion and independent judgment, as it plays a pivotal role in facilitating overall department operations. In this position, the Sr. Administrative Assistant will direct the activities of other support staff as necessary and coordinate inter-departmental or department-wide administrative projects. This includes managing broad communications, overseeing internal and external services, and developing and implementing guidelines for operating policies and procedures. The role also involves complex scheduling, which typically includes internal, external, and department-wide meetings and events. The individual will be fully responsible for planning department-wide events and travel arrangements, ensuring that all logistics are handled efficiently. Additionally, the Sr. Administrative Assistant will prepare and submit expense accounts and track actual expenses versus budget for the senior management area of responsibility. This includes developing or upgrading the budget system as needed. Regular interaction with internal and external executives, community leaders, and shareholders is expected, requiring the ability to initiate follow-up actions as necessary. The role also demands moderate to advanced conflict resolution skills, both over the phone and in person, as well as frequent problem-solving with internal and external staff. The candidate will be expected to utilize basic change management skills and perform other duties as assigned.
