About The Position

Allianz Commercial is seeking a Sr. Actuarial Analyst based in Chicago for a hybrid role within the Actuarial Reserving team. This position is crucial for ensuring robust reserves are held through independent actuarial analysis and collaboration with various stakeholders. The role involves deriving forward-looking loss ratio views to inform business steering and quarterly closing, and requires comfort in presenting to C-Suite level executives. The team is diverse and hardworking, focused on adopting best-in-class actuarial methods and addressing challenges such as inflation impact on reserves.

Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years business experience, preferably spanning multiple actuarial areas.
  • 3-5 CAS Exams.
  • Job specific knowledge regarding market dynamics, standard concepts and approaches, regulations/compliance standards, reporting requirements.
  • Finance and Insurance know-how (ideally P&C) and curiosity to understand complexities in an insurance group.
  • Ability to identify patterns and root causes in complex data and processes.
  • Basic balance sheet understanding on IFRS 4 and IFRS 17 bases.
  • High level of analytical ability and clear communication skills.
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills, ideally within a global environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in applying artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) to improve business processes and decision-making.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure that adequate loss reserves are estimated for your line(s) of business on IFRS 17 basis.
  • Support the Actuarial Function team in derivation of a normalized loss ratio, and validate selected and booked NLR via annual reserve reviews.
  • Support the reserving team in monthly closings and contribute to the presentation for the Loss Reserve Committee.
  • Drive innovation and efficiency in all processes to improve forecast quality and achieve high predictability.
  • Peer review work from other team members.
