Position Summary: We are looking for an experienced and proactive Senior Accounting Specialist to join our finance team in Brea. This role is designed for a technical accounting professional who will support general financial operations while supporting our internal control environment. The successful candidate will be primarily responsible for ensuring the accuracy of financial statements through the management of Fixed Assets, Lease accounting (ASC 842), and other key accounting cycles. Additionally, this individual will take charge of the K-SOX (Korean Sarbanes-Oxley Act) framework, ensuring our U.S. operations meet the highest standards of internal control over financial reporting (ICFR).

Requirements

  • 5+ years of progressive experience in corporate accounting or public audit.
  • Strong proficiency in Fixed Assets and Lease accounting. Familiarity with AR/AP and general accounting cycles.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Proficiency in Korean is required, as it facilitates seamless communication and reporting with Samyang Foods HQ in Korea.

Nice To Haves

  • K-SOX/SOX Expertise: Prior experience in operating or implementing K-SOX/SOX internal control frameworks is highly valued.
  • SAP Proficiency: Direct experience with SAP in a manufacturing or distribution environment is a strong plus.
  • Certifications: CPA (Certified Public Accountant) or CIA (Certified Internal Auditor) license.

Responsibilities

  • Asset & Lease Management: Lead the Fixed Asset lifecycle and manage Lease Accounting (ASC 842), including complex reconciliations, schedules, and compliance reporting.
  • Full-Cycle Closing: Support month-end and year-end closing processes to ensure accuracy and compliance with US GAAP and IFRS.
  • General Ledger & Support: Perform regular GL reconciliations and prepare financial workpapers. Provide necessary support for AR/AP workflows and other accounting cycles as needed.
  • Audit Support: Assist in external financial audits by providing required documentation, schedules, and technical explanations for assigned areas.
  • Process Optimization: Utilize SAP to streamline accounting procedures and improve data integrity across financial functions.
  • Control Ownership: Lead the ongoing operation and maintenance of the K-SOX framework for the U.S. entity.
  • Documentation: Manage and update the Risk Control Matrix (RCM), process flowcharts, and narratives to reflect current business processes.
  • Compliance Testing: Perform operating effectiveness testing and coordinate self-assessments to ensure compliance with Full Scope K-SOX requirements.
  • HQ Coordination: Collaborate closely with Samyang Foods HQ (Korea) to align local internal controls with global corporate governance standards.
