About The Position

HYBRID: 2 Days a week in our Houston Office (Tuesday & Thursdays) The Senior Accountant reports to the Senior Manager, Accounting and contributes to preparing timely and accurate financial statements and reports. Enters journal entries, reconciles cash and general ledger accounts, prepares ad-hoc financial analysis, documents business processes and transactions, and assists with special projects when necessary. The Senior Accountant is expected to take ownership of processes and procedures under their purview and demonstrate subject matter expertise. Also, the Senior Accountant is expected to identify opportunities for increased efficiency and then work with departmental and cross-departmental teams to implement improvements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field preferred. Related fields include Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or Accounting/Management Information Systems.
  • 4+ years of direct accounting experience required.
  • Full-Cycle Month end close experience required
  • Working knowledge of finance and accounting functions, including revenue recognition, expense accruals, accounts payable, budgeting, debt, and cost allocations. Systems integrations and internal controls experience preferred.
  • Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel, & Google Business Suite
  • Experience with ERP systems a plus. Sage Intacct preferred but not required.
  • Working knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and basic awareness of other comprehensive bases of accounting (e.g. IFRS, cash/tax basis, etc.).
  • Must comply with HIPAA rules and regulations.
  • In order to successfully work remotely, supporting our patients and providers, we require a minimum of 5 MBPS for Download Speed and 3 MBPS for the Upload Speed.

Nice To Haves

  • CPA or CPA candidate preferred, but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare journal entries accurately, timely, and with appropriate supporting documentation.
  • Prepare monthly bank and general ledger account reconciliations.
  • Contribute to and lead portions of month end close processes. Develop subject matter expertise in certain areas such as management fees, revenue accounting, value-based payments, fixed assets, debt, leases, prepaid expenses, performance fees, etc. to support improvement efforts.
  • Seek and identify opportunities for operational improvement, recommend modifications to accounting processes, marshal resources to implement improvement efforts.
  • Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls. Ensure that desktop procedures are complete, accurate, and updated timely for areas of responsibility.
  • Month-End Financial trend analysis
  • Support internal and external audits.
  • Lead special projects and ad-hoc analysis as needed.
  • Assist in training other team members.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned.
