About The Position

Performs advanced, multifaceted accounting functions related to general ledger maintenance, analysis, and preparing monthly financials in a timely manner. Prepares and posts complex journal entries. Prepares and interprets financial and management reports from financial data within short time constraints and makes recommendations that may have both short-term and long-term impacts on the company’s accounting functions. Analyzes complex financial and operating data to prepare financial and management reports, as well as projections. Investigates and resolves complex problems independently related to various financial data such as fixed asset data, budgets, and balance sheet items. Monitors business activities of the organization through the maintenance and control of financial records. Prepares audit support and works with both internal and external audit. Requirements

  • 5+ years of professional experience working with accounting functions
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting
  • Knowledge of accounting principles, methods, and applications
  • Ability to analyze and interpret more complex financial data and prepare financial reports and statements, as well as other management reports and projections
  • Knowledge of finance, accounting, and budgeting
  • Knowledge of computerized information systems used in financial and/or accounting applications
  • Proficient with Microsoft applications
  • Superior analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to set-up and maintain financial accounts and ledgers
  • Strong data entry, time management, and organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively with different levels of employees
  • Must be detail-oriented with exceptional interpersonal capabilities

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for reviewing and posting of journal entries
  • Monitors and reviews accounting and related system reports for accuracy and completeness
  • Coordinates the preparation of regularly scheduled financial analysis
  • Analyzes, reconciles, balances, and maintains accounting records in accordance with GAAP
  • Interacts with other departments to aid them in understanding various financial and management reports
  • Participates in audit activities for both internal and external auditors as needed, and in other audit projects as appropriate
  • Lead or participate in ad-hoc projects as necessary
  • Coordinates more complex accounting projects and initiatives with other members of the accounting and finance team or with other departments
  • Performs variance and trend analysis as appropriate
  • Assist with process improvements and development of internal controls
  • Cross train and support other positions within the office
  • Other duties as assigned

Benefits

  • Salary $80,000-$95,000 / year
  • Commensurate with experience, paid weekly. Posted salary ranges are made in good faith. MYR Group reserves the right to adjust ranges depending on the qualifications of the selected candidate.
