About The Position

The Sr. Accountant is deemed to have proficient technical knowledge of accounting and is able to perform tasks with reasonable and minimal supervision. The Sr. Accountant is responsible for performing Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, Cash Management and General Ledger accounting functions. The Sr. Accountant is expected to have introductory or proficient knowledge of Payroll, Benefits and Taxes. The Sr. Accountant will assist with month-end close, maintain a close calendar and perform account reconciliations and analysis. The Sr. Accountant will perform key tasks and analysis to assist the Accounting Manager and Controller/CFO prepare reliable and accurate financial records, reports and analysis. The Sr. Accountant is required to have proficient technical knowledge allowing them to move fluently between balance sheet and income statement; and fully understand financial statement assertions: Accuracy and Valuation, Existence, Completeness, Rights and Obligations. In a Supervisory capacity the St. Accountant will be asked to provide clear guidance, follow-up on performance and help train and develop other Accounting personnel. The Sr. Accountant is expected to perform comprehensive account analysis and comment knowingly on their assigned areas.

Requirements

  • HS Diploma or equivalent
  • Associate Degree in Accounting
  • Must have proficient technical knowledge and be able to maintain accounting records in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Prioritize and perform multiple tasks while meeting deadlines
  • Critical thinking, ability to process information quickly and exercise sound and reliable judgment
  • Effective writing and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to explain and illustrate work product in a concise and effective manner
  • Strong proficiency in accounting applications and systems and overall technology platforms
  • Must be able to work at a desk for extended periods of time

Responsibilities

  • Perform Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, Cash Management and General Ledger accounting activities supporting the Accounting and Finance Department.
  • Delivery high-quality work in a consistent and reliable manner
  • Maintain an organized and well managed workspace, work product and records
  • Monitor and help improve accounting controls and help set the tone for the overall control environment
  • Prepare financial analyses and reports
  • Complete detailed account reconciliations and analysis
  • Help oversee the month-end close and ensure all entries and activities are performed completely and accurately
  • Prepare, Review and Post Accounting Entries
  • Ensure subsidiary ledgers and records agree with General Ledgers and overall financial records and reports
