About The Position

The Senior Accountant is a key member of the Accounting Department responsible for executing core daily and monthly accounting activities. This role involves active participation in general ledger management, rigorous month-end closing procedures, preparing detailed account reconciliations, and supporting the department's operational and strategic projects. The Senior Accountant must ensure all activities adhere to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and contribute to the hospital's mission and values.

Requirements

• Minimum Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related specialty.
• Experience: Must be knowledgeable in Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and general ledger activities (including accruals).
• System Proficiency: Must be proficient in the use of personal computers and relevant accounting software.
• Demonstrated ability to manage time effectively, operate efficiently under month-end pressure, and maintain high attention to detail.

Nice To Haves

• Prior experience in Healthcare Finance is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Execute all assigned month-end closing activities accurately and on schedule, requiring comfort with a fast-paced environment and strict deadlines.
• Assist in maintaining and reviewing the general ledger, ensuring proper classification and recording of all financial transactions, including accruals.
• Prepare and analyze detailed month-end account reconciliations for various balance sheet and income statement accounts.
• Ensure full compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) across all accounting and reporting functions.
• Contribute to the preparation of internal financial statements and supporting schedules.
• Assist the Controller and Assistant Controller with year-end audits and external reporting requirements.
• Collaborate with various hospital departments to ensure accurate and timely financial data submission.
• Perform special accounting projects and financial analysis as directed by the CFO, Controller, and Assistant Controller.
• Identify and implement process improvements within the accounting function to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
