About The Position

Description SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES Indirectly works with cost management, sales subsidiaries, acquired subsidiaries and Corporate finance team members to support the system needs. No direct supervisory responsibilities. QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE BS/BA in Accounting or related field with 3-6 years’ experience preferred. CPA/CMA preferred. Must be highly proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Access) and willing to develop proficiency in other applicable accounting and operating systems. Must have the ability to manage multiple tasks in an environment of constant interruptions and be able prioritize responsibilities. COMMUNICATION SKILLS Excellent verbal and written English language skills are required as well as good public relations, public speaking, instructional/teaching, and customer service skills. Ability to read, interpret, understand and explain documents such as processes and company reports. Ability to effectively present information to others, gather information from others, and respond appropriately to questions from employees, managers, co-workers, agents, customers, and the general public. Must be able to listen, assess situations and make objective decisions. PROFESSIONAL SKILLS Must be a team player and exhibit a strong desire to learn and promote self-growth. Must be pro-active, have a good attitude, be self-disciplined, and self-motivated. Must be a "take-charge" person with a demonstrated ability to follow projects through to completion. Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry. Must have ability to solve practical problems without close supervision. Must be able to determine appropriate resolution in dealing with employee concerns and questions and set appropriate boundaries. Must possess good thought processes, problem-solving skills, and investigative theory. Must always be able to use sound judgment and make objective decisions in the company’s best interest. Must be able to demonstrate ability to synthesize people and events, problem solve, and engage individuals in effective conversation. Responsibilities

  • Maintains and updates general ledger accounts in appropriate financial systems.
  • Prepare, review and post journal entries and system generated transactions for accuracy, as necessary.
  • Prepare and review monthly financial statements in accordance with the closing timeline.
  • Analyze variances and provide insights into financial activity to management.
  • Provide identified management teams with accurate and timely financial analysis including scenarios, options, recommendations, etc, where needed.
  • Prepare and/or review various balance sheet reconciliations ensuring activity is accurate and reconciling items are cleaned up timely.
  • Generate continuous improvement ideas to reduce complexity and improve accuracy for the Pella Enterprise.
  • Serve as liaison to a variety of team members to answer questions about accounting transactions, proper places to charge, best practices, etc.
  • Create and maintain documentation on processes.
  • Perform accounting research as requested for new transactions or for new accounting pronouncements, determining appropriate treatment.
  • Prepare budgets and forecasts for items designated to this position.
  • Coordinate and prepare interim and year end audit work papers.
  • Complete year end close process in timeline outlined with no material adjustments.
  • Supports and ensures adequate internal accounting controls are in place as well as policies and procedures are established and followed across the Pella Enterprise related to financial accounting and reporting.
  • Partner with team members to drive overall business improvements.
  • Complete ad-hoc business performance reporting.
  • Assists with the integration of acquisitions and the appropriate accounting treatment of divestitures.
  • Assists in the implementation of new technologies and applications, to enable overall financial process efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Special projects as assigned.
