About The Position

The Sr. Accountant compiles financial information, processes journal entries, reconciles accounts, prepares reports and analyzes financial data. Strong familiarity with the laws and regulations that apply to an accounting function is required to ensure compliance. Possesses knowledge of the Company's financial accounting systems. On a regular and continuous basis, exercises administrative judgment and assumes responsibility for decisions, consequences, and results having an impact on people, costs, and/or quality of service within the functional area.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting.
  • Five or more years of general accounting experience.
  • Ability to prioritize assignments according to timelines and importance of task.
  • Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to work both independently and with others.
  • Ability to operate in a fast moving, team-oriented, collaborative environment with tight deadlines and frequent ad hoc assignments.
  • Proficiency in using MS Office Suite and Windows-based computer applications with advanced knowledge of Excel

Responsibilities

  • Provides quality internal and external customer service surrounding the Company values
  • Analyzes financial data and extracts and defines relevant information
  • Interprets data to determine past financial performance and/or to project a financial probability
  • Prepares additions, disposals and transfers into the fixed asset system
  • Prepares balance sheet account reconciliations to ensure accurate reporting; researches and resolves differences
  • Initiates and processes journal entries into the General Ledger as part of the month-end close process in accordance with internal controls and generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP)
  • Assists with the preparation of monthly reporting to senior management team
  • Compiles and analyzes financial information with a high level of accuracy
  • Verifies documents for completeness and compliance
  • Provides information to management and/or appropriate external parties and resolves accounting issues and discrepancies
  • Develops process improvements to gain efficiencies
  • Uses various software applications, such as spreadsheets, relational databases, statistical packages, and graphics packages to assemble, manipulate and/or format data and/or reports
  • Applies a working knowledge of GAAP and Company policies.
  • Monitors own work to ensure that records are accurate, completed timely and that responsible parties are notified of any relevant changes
  • Identifies cost-saving opportunities and communicates them to the supervisor
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
