About The Position

Under general direction, independently performs the more difficult accounting duties which require an understanding of the entire accounting process, such as coordinate implementation of accounting for new programs/functions; review proposals to change accounting procedures; prepare cash analysis reports for management; coordinate completion of year-end reports Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following: preparing and posting monthly journal entries that assist in the production of timely and accurate monthly financial statements, reconciling balances for assigned general ledger and bank accounts. Ensures all financial data interfaces are processed to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting. May be responsible for preparation and oversight of the following: grant, investment, bond, debt, fixed assets, managed care/capitation, insurance, employee benefits, cash, and affiliate accounting and reporting. Acts as the primary contact and liaison to resolve discrepancies between the general ledger and account transactions. Supports month-end and year end close by preparing timely and well organized financial schedules and reconciliations in accordance with department guidelines. Prepares and assists in the coordination of: supplemental external reporting, advanced and consolidated financial statements and schedules, the completion of sophisticated ad hoc reporting for department leadership and Senior Management. Working with the Director of Finance, actively identifies and implements opportunities for process improvement. Responsible for ensuring desk and department procedures are maintained and updated. Independently conducts meetings with internal and external stakeholders as required. Provides guidance to department staff in performing other finance reconciliations. Leads special projects as assigned. Independently fields audit inquiries and acts as direct audit liaison for the affiliate audit process. Assists department leadership with coordinating month end close, ancillary reporting, and audit processes. In conjunction with leadership, assists staff accountants and other department staff with more complex assignments. Leads assignments and projects in alignment with organizational and departmental goals and timelines. Acts as primary resource for training new staff and coordinates with department staff. May act as the Director of Finance in their absence. Demonstrates ability to consistently meet established deadlines. Ability to perform accounting functions at all levels required by staff. Ability to speak and read English at a level that is sufficient to satisfactorily perform the essential functions of the position. Knowledge of standard office equipment (i.e., calculator, fax, photocopier) and personal computer and computer software skills (i.e., MS Windows, Excel, Access, Word, PowerPoint, internet, e-mail). Windows computer skills including proficient use of keyboarding, use of mouse or keys for functions such as selecting items, use of drop down menus, scroll bars, opening folders, copying and similar operations required upon employment or within the 1st two weeks of employment to perform the essential functions of the job. Requirements

  • Minimum Education: Bachelor's Degree in Accounting/Finance
  • Minimum Experience: 2-4 years increasingly responsible accounting experience
  • Understanding of US GAAP
  • Ability to speak and read English at a level that is sufficient to satisfactorily perform the essential functions of the position.
  • Knowledge of standard office equipment (i.e., calculator, fax, photocopier) and personal computer and computer software skills (i.e., MS Windows, Excel, Access, Word, PowerPoint, internet, e-mail).
  • Windows computer skills including proficient use of keyboarding, use of mouse or keys for functions such as selecting items, use of drop down menus, scroll bars, opening folders, copying and similar operations required upon employment or within the 1st two weeks of employment to perform the essential functions of the job.

Nice To Haves

  • Preferred Education: CPA eligible or in process of obtaining CPA
  • Preferred Experience: 5+ years related work experience preferably within the Healthcare industry, and an understanding of US GAAP and accounting skills. Experience as a lead or prior supervisory experience.
  • Preferred License: CPA or CPA Eligible
