About The Position

Under the direction of the Supervisor, Capital Projects, the Senior Accountant Fixed Assets is responsible for preparing journal entries and performing fixed asset and construction in progress (CIP) reconciliations for the monthly general ledger close. This position supports the integrity of capital asset accounting and contributes to the accuracy of financial reporting. The role requires a high level of attention to detail, the ability to manage complex transactions, and coordination with departments to ensure compliance with accounting standards and deadlines.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance is required.
  • Minimum four (4) years’ of related experience required.
  • Related, relevant, and/or direct experience may be considered in lieu of minimum educational requirements indicated above.
  • Must demonstrate advanced proficiency in Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel.
  • Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • At the discretion of the San Manuel Tribal Gaming Commission, you may be required to obtain and maintain a gaming license.
  • Role requires regular commuting between locations.
  • A valid driver's license and vehicle insurance with minimum liability limits is required.
  • Role will not operate or drive Tribe-owned vehicles or patron vehicles.

  • Experience in Fixed Assets preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Is responsible for the Fixed Asset management system, including recording the cost of newly acquired fixed assets (tangible and intangible), tracking existing assets, recording depreciation, and accounting for disposals for high-volume and complex entities.
  • Is responsible for timely capitalization of completed Construction In Progress (CIP) and Information Technology (IT) projects.
  • Is responsible for the preparation of accurate general ledger entries and reconciliations for month-end closing of the books in a timely manner.
  • Assists with planning and execution of annual fixed asset inventory.
  • Assigns asset tags to various departments to ensure departments are properly tagging assets.
  • Investigates the potential obsolescence of fixed assets.
  • Prepares property tax returns.
  • Assists with external and internal audits by gathering supporting documentation and responding to audit inquiries.
  • Performs other duties as assigned to support the efficient operation of the department.
