About The Position

Under general supervision, tutors and assists students in a variety of academic areas, individually or in small groups, to help them master assignments and to reinforce learning concepts presented by classroom teachers. Discuss assigned duties with classroom teachers to coordinate instructional efforts.

Responsibilities

• Performs all the duties of an academic tutor and assists students in the development of advanced learning skills and a variety of progressively complex academic areas.
• Observes students’ performance and records relevant data to assess progress.
• Coordinates and connects with classroom teachers to prepare instructional activities that aide in mastering specific skills, subject matter content, homework, extra assignments and the state mandated tests. Instructs and monitors students in the use and care of equipment and materials to prevent injuries and damage.
• Presents subject matter to students under the direction and guidance of teachers, using lectures, discussions, or supervised role-playing methods. Schedules parent meetings and implements home visits to assist students and families as needed.
• Enforces administration policies and rules governing students.
• Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
