About The Position

The SQL Developer will play a key role in building and maintaining secure, high-performing database systems that support mission-critical government applications. Operating within a remote, clearance-sensitive environment, this individual will drive database modernization efforts—including cloud migration to AWS RDS and Aurora PostgreSQL—while ensuring compliance with federal security and data governance standards.

Requirements

  • Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Technology Management or Engineering, or other comparable Certifications or experience
  • Minimum of 3 years in SQL development with progressive responsibilities
  • Deep expertise in complex SQL query design, optimization, and debugging
  • Prior experience working in government or highly regulated sectors
  • Demonstrated ability to work alongside development, infrastructure, and security teams
  • Strong knowledge of database security, access control models, and regulatory compliance
  • Capable of diagnosing and resolving issues quickly under pressure
  • Skilled in creating detailed documentation for auditing, training, and operational continuity
  • Must be a U.S. citizen
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance.

Nice To Haves

  • Proven success in migrating systems to AWS RDS or Aurora PostgreSQL
  • Familiarity with Oracle, SQL Server, MySQL, or similar platforms
  • Exposure to CI/CD practices and tools for managing database changes
  • Experience with platforms like ServiceNow, and generating audit-ready documentation
  • Understanding and experience with Agile or Scrum methodologies.

Responsibilities

  • Craft efficient and optimized SQL queries, stored procedures, functions, and views tailored to complex data processing needs.
  • Work closely with application developers to embed database logic seamlessly into applications.
  • Analyze and resolve performance bottlenecks across development, testing, and production stages.
  • Support and lead efforts in moving legacy systems to AWS cloud databases like RDS or Aurora PostgreSQL.
  • Ensure all development aligns with federal data governance, access control, and security standards.
  • Create and update comprehensive documentation such as data dictionaries, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and runbooks.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior database developers and enforce best practices.
