The SQL Developer Data Engineer position at the NYC Health Department involves various aspects of the software development lifecycle, focusing on the eVital ecosystem. The role is crucial for supporting and enhancing data integration processes, ensuring data accuracy, and compliance with privacy laws, while also contributing to public health initiatives through data analysis and reporting.

  • Researching, designing, building, and testing various aspects of the eVital ecosystem.
  • Supporting and enhancing new and existing interfaces (APIs).
  • Modernizing development of workflows for data reporting and data sharing using fast healthcare interoperable resources (FHIR).
  • Implementing and refining data integration processes including ETL tasks to support data accuracy and availability.
  • Co-administration of the eVital system including oversight of user access controls, system configurations, and related interfaces.
  • Ensuring rigorous adherence to data security standards and compliance with privacy laws.
  • Assisting in the analysis of large data sets to produce actionable insights and support strategic decision-making.
  • Troubleshooting database issues and providing timely solutions.
  • A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college, including or supplemented by twenty-four (24) semester credits in computer science or a related computer field and two (2) years of satisfactory full-time software experience in designing, programming, debugging, maintaining, implementing, and enhancing computer software applications.
  • A four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent and six (6) years of full-time satisfactory software experience as described above, including one year in a project leader capacity or as a major contributor on a complex project.
  • A satisfactory combination of education and experience that is equivalent to the above requirements.
  • Experience in data administration and database management systems.
