Join May Institute as a SQL Administrator/SQL Developer and play a key role in driving data-informed decisions that improve outcomes for individuals with autism, brain injury, and other developmental disabilities. In this highly collaborative role, you’ll be our in-house expert on vendor databases and help operational teams translate data into powerful insights. As a single contributor, you’ll have ownership of end-to-end reporting solutions—from exploring and querying complex datasets to building dashboards that inform clinical, financial, and operational strategies. You will maintain high availability of production databases and achieve target performance metrics for critical queries and applications.

  • Develop and maintain SQL queries to extract, manipulate, and transform data from vendor databases.
  • Optimize database configurations and server settings for optimal performance while proactively monitoring and addressing performance bottlenecks.
  • Ensure data integrity through regular backups, disaster recovery planning, and data validation processes.
  • Analyze requirements from stakeholders and create data products that are accurate, intuitive, and aligned to best practices.
  • Document dashboard functionality and data sources for ongoing use and scalability.
  • Lead standards for dashboard development, prioritization, and optimization across departments.
  • Partner cross-functionally to troubleshoot issues, propose solutions, and continuously improve data reliability and usability.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • 1–2 years of experience with SQL Server and database query development.
  • 1-2 years of SQL Server Administration experience.
  • Experience translating operational problems into data queries and reports.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel; Crystal Reports experience is a plus.
  • Strong attention to detail, time management, and organizational skills.
  • A self-starter mindset with the curiosity to explore datasets and ask the right questions.
  • Must be based in the Boston–Providence area with the ability to work hybrid or onsite as needed.
