About The Position

Piper Fire Protection is seeking a Sprinkler Service Department Supervisor to oversee daily operations of the Sarasota Sprinkler Service Department. This role is responsible for coordinating service schedules, ensuring timely and compliant repairs of sprinkler systems, maintaining strong customer communication, and supporting technicians and administrative staff. The Supervisor will play a key role in planning, workload management, customer coordination, material procurement, budgeting, and cost‑control initiatives, with a strong focus on NFPA 13 and NFPA 25 compliance and high‑quality field service execution. Industry familiarity with wet, dry, pre‑action, standpipe, and fire pump systems is essential for success.

Requirements

  • 3–7 years of experience in fire sprinkler service, inspection, maintenance, or related fire protection industry fieldwork.
  • Field experience specifically with sprinkler systems (wet, dry, pre‑action, standpipe, and fire pumps).
  • Previous supervisory or management experience overseeing technicians or service operations.
  • Familiarity with Florida Fire Prevention Code, NFPA 13 and NFPA 25, and local AHJ requirements.
  • Working knowledge of budgeting, labor planning, job costing, scheduling, and operational planning.
  • Experience supporting service proposals, deficiency quoting, or maintenance contract coordination.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills for interactions with customers, vendors, inspectors, and internal teams.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and comfort with ERP/service software (Oracle preferred).
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and decision‑making skills in a fast‑paced service environment.
  • Ability to meet company driving eligibility requirements, including holding a valid driver’s license and maintaining an acceptable motor vehicle record.

Nice To Haves

  • NICET Level I–II (or higher) in Water-Based Systems Layout or Inspection & Testing of Water-Based Systems.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a primary point of contact for sprinkler service requests, deficiencies, inspection updates, and customer concerns, ensuring prompt and professional communication.
  • Maintain strong working relationships with customers, contractors, AHJs, and vendors throughout the service lifecycle.
  • Oversee daily scheduling, job assignments, and workflow for technicians performing inspections, testing, maintenance, and repairs on fire sprinkler systems, including wet, dry, pre‑action, and standpipe systems.
  • Source and order project material, verify cost is within budget and coordinate deliveries for service projects.
  • Order, release, and coordinate rental equipment.
  • Ensure project material orders are complete and on hand before technician mobilization.
  • Verify service trucks are stocked with common Sprinkler Service materials.
  • Monitor labor hours, material usage, and job progress to support accurate job costing, budgeting, and timely completion.
  • Ensure all service tickets, inspection reports, work orders, and deficiency documentation are completed accurately for billing and compliance.
  • Perform field design surveys for Sprinkler Service Projects.
  • Coordinate water shutdowns with water purveyors.
  • Support operational planning related to workload distribution, staffing needs, inventory levels, and equipment readiness.
  • Supervise and mentor sprinkler service technicians and service office staff, providing training, coaching, and performance feedback.
  • Conduct field visits and ride‑alongs to ensure work quality, NFPA 25 inspection accuracy, professionalism, and adherence to company expectations.
  • Ensure technician adherence to Piper Fire policies, OSHA requirements, and sprinkler standards such as NFPA 13 (installation) and NFPA 25 (inspection, testing & maintenance).
  • Participate in safety discussions, corrective action reviews, and ongoing training initiatives.
  • Maintain accurate operational records related to inspections, maintenance, repairs, testing, technician performance, and compliance documentation.
  • Collaborate closely with sales, accounting, and leadership teams to ensure smooth and efficient service execution.
  • Assist with collection follow‑up, contract renewals, proposal support, and continuous improvement of sprinkler service operations.
  • Provide technical guidance to technicians and customers regarding system condition, deficiencies, code requirements, and recommended repairs.
