About The Position

Piper Fire Protection's Clearwater, FL branch is seeking motivated Fire Sprinkler Apprentices to join our team. This role involves assisting with the installation and modification of Wet, Dry, Pre-Action, and Deluge sprinkler systems in accordance with NFPA standards and local codes. All apprentices will enroll in the Fire Sprinkler Apprentice Program, which includes attending ABC apprentice school approximately two evenings per week during the academic year (about 3 hours per session). Piper Fire will cover tuition and related expenses. Successful participation requires meeting attendance and academic standards as outlined by the program. Wage increases will occur at designated intervals throughout the apprenticeship.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Basic knowledge of hand tools
  • Strong work ethic and willingness to learn
  • Valid driver's license
  • Ability to pass pre-employment drug screening and background check

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience working with fire sprinkler systems or similar mechanical systems
  • Familiarity with hand tools and power tools commonly used in construction or mechanical work
  • Basic understanding of plumbing or pipefitting principles
  • Ability to read and interpret simple blueprints or technical drawings
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills

Responsibilities

  • Assist with installation and modification of fire sprinkler systems under supervision
  • Develop knowledge of fire sprinklers, fire pumps, backflows, and standpipes
  • Follow verbal and written instructions and provide accurate documentation of work performed
  • Demonstrate professional communication and customer service skills
  • Operate hand and power tools common to the trade
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment and adhere to company safety policies
  • Maintain a valid driver's license and good driving record
