About The Position

The City of College Park is seeking a college student intern to support District 3 in collaboration with Council Members Oates and Ranker. The intern will assist with assessing the status of properties within the district, primarily residential properties, to determine whether they are owner-occupied, vacant, or used as rental units. This information will be cross-referenced with City databases to verify proper permitting, with a particular focus on occupancy permits, and to help ensure that property owners are informed of applicable permit requirements. The selected intern should be proficient in basic office software, highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple tasks effectively. Additional Projects and Responsibilities include: Supporting efforts to improve communication within District 3, including outreach to residents (including University of Maryland students), boards and commissions, council members, and other stakeholders. Assisting with the flow of information across multiple platforms and audiences to encourage greater resident engagement and participation. Developing and enhancing place-making resources by cataloging City and County assets-such as public properties, playgrounds, public art installations, farmers markets, and bike repair stations-with photographs, descriptions, and links to Google Maps and Apple Maps. Reviewing advertisements for residential properties in District 3 to identify housing listings that may indicate potential violations of County regulations regarding the maximum number of unrelated individuals permitted to occupy a rental residence.
