Your Impact The Vertex Integrated Pharmacology internship program is a multi-week experiential training program for students currently working towards an advanced degree in a relevant scientific field (i.e. pharmacology, biological sciences). The Integrated Pharmacology Co-op will work in a collaborative setting with a team of biologists to execute sophisticated biological experiments with manager supervision. Experience with in vivo mouse techniques, and ex vivo techniques such as protein (western blotting, ELISA), flow cytometry, or molecular (qPCR) techniques are preferred. The applicant must be a demonstrated team player and able to work closely and responsively within their team. Excellent communication and people skills are required.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program in a relevant scientific field (e.g. pharmacology, biological sciences)
  • In vivo mouse techniques ( PO, IP, perfusion, blood and tissue collection)
  • Ex vivo techniques: protein (western blotting, ELISA), flow cytometry, or molecular (qPCR)
  • Quick learner with ability and willingness to learn/understand new concepts and techniques.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team
  • Self-motivated and results oriented. Ability to thrive and adapt in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
  • Excellent written and communication skills.
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States, now and in the future. Please note that Vertex does not provide sponsorship for internships or entry level roles within this part of the organization.
  • You must be enrolled in an advanced degree program if graduating before June 2026
  • You must be available to work full-time, 40 hours per week from January - June 2026

Responsibilities

  • Participate in planning experiments and conducts experiments with limited supervision demonstrating responsible follow-up
  • Conduct experiments independently following established methodology and procedures.
  • Performs initial analysis of experimental data and interprets immediate experimental outcomes and/or conclusions with established protocols.
  • Maintain accurate lab records and summarize results for presentations
  • May be expected to present at internal Group research meeting
  • Follows procedures from the literature, adapting them as necessary with supervisor's guidance
  • Performs other duties as assigned
