Responsibilities What You'll Do as a Spray Technician: As a Spray Technician, you will support Lewis Tree Service's utility vegetation management operations by safely applying herbicide and pesticide treatments to control unwanted vegetation along utility rights-of-way and ensure reliable service for our customers. Mix and apply herbicides, pesticides, and other chemicals according to label directions and formulas. Operate spray equipment including truck-mounted sprayers, backpack sprayers, and handheld applicators. Identify target vegetation and select appropriate treatment methods and chemicals. Monitor weather conditions, wind speed, and environmental factors to ensure safe and effective application. Calibrate spray equipment and adjust nozzles, pressure, and flow rates for proper coverage. Maintain accurate records of chemical applications, quantities used, and areas treated in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. Inspect, clean, and perform routine maintenance on spray equipment to ensure optimal performance. Follow all safety protocols and wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times. Communicate with property owners, customers, and the public regarding vegetation management activities. Work as part of a team to complete assigned work orders efficiently and safely. Assist with vegetation assessments and site surveys as needed. Ensure compliance with all applicable environmental regulations and company policies.

Requirements

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a state-issued pesticide or herbicide applicator license in accordance with applicable regulations.
  • Strong commitment to safety and environmental stewardship.
  • Ability to follow herbicide labels, application guidelines, and safety procedures accurately.
  • Attention to detail when mixing, measuring, and applying chemicals.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Reliable attendance, punctuality, and professional conduct on job sites.
  • The ability to read, write, and understand English.
  • Valid driver's license (CDL preferred)
  • CPR/First Aid certification (provided by Lewis)
  • Herbicide applicator certification (or ability to complete and maintain)
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable state, local, and federal regulations.
  • Ability to: Lift 50 lbs. to shoulder height or higher
  • Push or pull up to 50 lbs.
  • Walk or hike up to one mile on uneven terrain
  • Endure extreme climate variances (e.g., severe cold to high heat and humidity)
  • Hear, speak, see, and communicate effectively
  • Operate two-handed tools and equipment
