About The Position

The Spray Technician reports directly to the golf course superintendent and assistant golf course superintendent. Responsibilities include mixing, preparing and applying chemical solutions such as insecticides, herbicides and fungicides. The position is responsible for maintaining pesticide and fertilizer inventory as well as keeping records of pesticide and fertilizer applications. As a Spray Technician, you’ll be responsible for applying pesticides and fertilizers to various areas of the golf course, helping to maintain the health and beauty of greens, tees and fairways. This position offers the potential for year-round employment with opportunities to transition into other roles at Giants Ridge as the seasons change! Requirements

  • Must possess a valid driver’s license.
  • Ability to operate trucks and light motorized equipment.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a commercial applicator license in category A and E, paid for by the employer.
  • Ability to perform simple mathematical calculations.
  • Must have a willingness to learn.
  • Ability to maintain a neat and organized workspace.
  • Ability to understand and follow oral direction.
  • Strong attention to detail is required.
  • A strong work ethic and dependability.
  • Willingness to learn and take on new challenges.
  • Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Ability to work early mornings, rotating weekends and flexible hours, as needed.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience in landscaping or golf course maintenance a plus, but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Mixing, preparing and applying chemical solutions such as insecticides, herbicides and fungicides.
  • Maintaining pesticide and fertilizer inventory.
  • Keeping records of pesticide and fertilizer applications.
  • Applies fertilizer and chemical applications.
  • Updates spray records, inventory and Material Safety Data Sheets.
  • Calibrates spray equipment and fertilizer spreaders.
  • Performs general upkeep and maintenance on spray equipment.
  • Diagnoses pest and fungus issues, once properly trained.
  • Performs golf maintenance duties as assigned by the Golf Course Superintendent and/or Assistant Golf Course Superintendent on non-spray days.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Applying pesticides and fertilizers to various areas of the golf course, helping to maintain the health and beauty of greens, tees and fairways.
