About The Position

The Spray Painter applies paint and other finishes by brush, roller, or spray unit to the exterior and interior surfaces of dwelling units and other structures. This position is distinguished from other painter classes by its responsibility for performing journeyman spray painting work as a full-time assignment. The role involves preparing surfaces for spray painting, mixing paint, applying paint to various building surfaces, setting up necessary equipment, cleaning tools, and may include planning and painting signs or operating paint stripping machines for traffic markings.

Requirements

• Four (4) years of experience in the painting trade.
• Completion of an apprenticeship or equivalent evidence of journeyman status.
• Must possess a valid California Class 'C' Driver's License.
• Keen color perception.

Responsibilities

• Applies paint and other finishes to exterior and interior surfaces.
• Prepares wood, plaster, stucco, and cement surfaces for painting.
• Mixes paint and matches colors.
• Sets up necessary equipment such as ladders and scaffolding.
• Cleans painting tools and equipment.
• May plan and paint miscellaneous signs.
• May operate a paint stripping machine for traffic markings.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
