About The Position

The Sports Supervisor (Recreation Services Coordinator II) is responsible for coordinating adult and youth leagues, summer camps, and community sport organizations within Howard County's Recreation and Parks Department. This role involves overseeing the safe and efficient operation of recreational activities, managing budgets, supervising staff and volunteers, and developing new programs to enhance community engagement in sports and recreation.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Recreation, Physical Education, Sports Management, Marketing, or a related field.
• One year of related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Certified Park and Recreation Professional (CPRP) preferred.

Nice To Haves

• Coaching certification from the American Sport Education Programs.
• Experience coaching or leading active recreation programs.
• Completion of the American Sport Education Program clinician course.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate adult leagues, youth leagues, summer camps, and community sport organizations.
• Supervise sport and adventure program offerings for seasonal brochures.
• Research and develop new programs in collaboration with leagues and camps.
• Participate in division and departmental teams, including fiscal and marketing teams.
• Work closely with the Volunteer Manager for recruitment and selection of volunteers.
• Prepare and maintain program budgets and oversee financial reports.
• Recruit, hire, train, and supervise part-time program staff and leisure service providers.
• Negotiate service agreements and review invoices for payment.
• Handle customer requests and inquiries, coordinating responses with registration staff.
• Review accident/incident reports and follow up with participants.
