About The Position

Global Kids’ (GK) mission is to educate, inspire, and mobilize youth to become global citizens who are positively engaged in the world and are prepared for their future. Over its 36-year history, the organization has engaged thousands of young people in its innovative youth development programs that promote global awareness and action, building their agency to effect change in their community and beyond. We are seeking an experienced Sports Specialist to join our High School Team. The specialist will design and lead engaging activities that promote personal development, academic enrichment, and social-emotional learning for students. The ideal candidate will have a passion for working with youth and a talent for creating inclusive and stimulating environments. This is a seasonal position, starting on February 28, 2026, and expected to end on June 13, 2026.

Requirements

  • Minimum of four years of experience working with young people in an educational or recreational setting.
  • Minimum of two years of experience in coaching organized competitive sports, particularly in basketball, soccer, or tennis
  • Experience in planning and leading activities for diverse groups of students.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a team and independently.
  • Creativity, enthusiasm, and a commitment to youth development.
  • Ability to work 10-15 hours per week, the schedule is as follows.
  • Most be available on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, 4 pm -7 pm, and Saturdays, 9 am- 2 pm
  • Successful completion of a background check.

Nice To Haves

  • Certification in First Aid and CPR preferred.
  • Fluency in other languages is a plus (particularly Haitian Creole).

Responsibilities

  • Plan, organize, and coach a team of students for specific sports: volleyball, soccer, or tennis
  • Develop lesson plans that are age-appropriate, culturally responsive, and aligned with DYCD and Global Kids guidelines and standards.
  • Facilitate activities that encourage teamwork, leadership, and positive social interactions.
  • Foster a safe, welcoming, and supportive environment for all participants.
  • Encourage student participation and engagement in all activities.
  • Work closely with other staff members, including the Program Director and the Director of Community Schools,to ensure a cohesive and integrated program.
  • Maintain open and effective communication with parents, guardians, and school staff.
  • Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and professional development opportunities.
  • Track and report on student progress and program outcomes.
  • Conduct regular assessments to evaluate the effectiveness of activities and make necessary adjustments.
  • Ensure compliance with all DYCD regulations and guidelines.
