Sarasota's ABC7 is hiring a SPORTS REPORTER / MMJ. Tell promotable quality stories of local athletes and fans here on Florida's Suncoast. You'll have the tools to create unique, enterprise content by developing strong sources throughout Tampa Bay. WWSB-TV / ABC7 in Sarasota, Florida, is searching for our next Sports Storyteller. This Sports MMJ/Reporter is passionate about visual “people stories” revolving around our Suncoast Athletes, Spring Training, and local impacts of Tampa Bay's Professional Sports Teams. Just to be clear, this is not a Sports Director job; it's also not a Weekend Sports Anchor/Reporter posting. This is about having an in-the-field, Special Projects mindset, as you'll be producing enterprise sports journalism organized with a coverage calendar. This MMJ must excel at the basics; lighting, sequencing, and sound gathering using assigned gear is a must. Yes, you'll need to excel at highlights and delivering copy both on-prompter and off. All of our journalists must consider themselves Digital First innovators and Lead Story Reporters. As a field reporter, you'll partner with producers and managers to break and ultimately update your coverage. In this role, you'll have the ability to “go live” multiple times a day. Our teammates are just as comfortable delivering in the field as they are from our newsroom and our CTV / Live Desk. This is a chance to challenge yourself, have fun, and track your growth. NOTE: WWSB-TV monitors and regularly covers extreme weather threats, including strong Tropical Storms and Hurricanes. All journalists play a vital role in the ABC7 newsroom response, helping connect viewers and digital users with life-saving news and information. Safety is always our top priority, and all teammates and management are required to be present at the station to serve our local community before, during, and after a storm.
