About The Position

Under the supervision of the recreation coordinator this position will perform duties associated with officiating various recreation leagues in a fair and consistent manner in accordance with the Bonner Springs Parks and Recreation league rules and regulations pertaining to offered sport programs.

Requirements

An ability to establish a positive rapport with all spectators, coaches, players, and staff
an ability to effectively communicate with all spectators, coaches, players, and staff
must have the ability to read and write
the ability to be committed to the mission, vision, and strategic direction of the City of Bonner Springs
ability to obey and comply with all City ordinances and policies
Be able to provide an appropriate whistle and athletic shoes
Must be 15 years of age

Nice To Haves

Previous sports officiating experience is preferred but not necessary
General knowledge in the sport contracted to officiate for is preferred

Responsibilities

Officiate Bonner Springs Parks and Rec sports leagues
Be familiar with and enforce league rules and regulations
Assure the games are played in a fair and safe manner
Provides exceptional customer service to internal and external customers
Comply with and promote safe practices in agreement with the safety rules and procedures
Communicate game situations to scorekeepers, timers and field/court supervisors
Ability to administer rules in a fair and consistent manner
Ability to report on time for all scheduled games
Ability to work at least three (3) games in succession
Ability to work a flexible schedule with weekend and evening work required
Perform other duties deemed necessary and assigned
