About The Position

The Sports Medicine Assistant will provide athletic training services at assigned location(s) according to professional practice standards. This role is designed to protect the health and safety of the athlete and to provide appropriate medical care by functioning within the level of their medical education training when dealing with: First aid, Triage; Return to Play/Action decisions. The person in this position will work under the direction of the lead athletic trainer, Medical Director, and Director of Nursing at Lake Region Healthcare. The Sports Medicine Assistant will provide appropriate bracing and taping, injury evaluation, treatment, rehabilitation, and assessment of athletic injuries within scope of practice or as directed.

Requirements

• At least one of the following qualifications: Athletic Trainer, Paramedic, Emergency Medical Technician, Physical Therapist, Occupational Therapist, Registered Nurse (with TNCC, ATCN, or PHTLS certification preferred).
• Current Healthcare Provider level/AED CPR certification upon hire or must be obtained within 6 months.
• Ability to attend the work site per schedule.

Responsibilities

• Provide athletic training services at assigned locations according to professional practice standards.

• Make return to play/action decisions.
• Work under the direction of the lead athletic trainer, Medical Director, and Director of Nursing.
