About The Position
Portland Parks and Recreation is seeking basketball Sports Officials ages 15 or older, for our 2025-2026 youth sports leagues. On-court training teaches basic skills in officiating- no experience necessary! All Sports League Officials are required to complete Portland Parks and Recreations Sports Officials Training Certification Program. The training is seven weeks on Saturdays from 8:45am-12:00pm mid-October - December. Sports League Staff are responsible for officiating the games in a safe and professional manner. Applicants must demonstrate leadership, teamwork, and show active participation and enthusiasm on the court while serving as a positive role model to all participants and other staff. New Sports Officials will not be paid for training until the hiring process is complete. Saturday Youth Basketball Season: December 6, 2025 - March 14, 2026 Note:This job is open for a long time. There are no set interviews or hiring dates. Applicants will be contacted when positions become available.Early applications are encouraged. Applications submitted by September 22ndwill be guaranteed an invitation to interview. Applications submitted after September 22nd, will only be invited to an interview on an as needed basis.
