About The Position

WKRG-TV News 5 is currently accepting applications for Sports Journalism Intern (Remote) for Fall 2025. This internship offers a unique opportunity to learn through observation and hands-on experience. The primary duty will involve participating in the production of a live, daily, nationally-syndicated sports talk television show, "Southeast Sports+". Interns will assist with booking guests, gathering information, creating content, and supporting the producer and hosts with various tasks. Interns with exceptional communication skills may have the chance to present material on-camera. This role allows interns to work with knowledgeable and friendly teammates and engage with a diverse cohort of students from universities across the USA. The experience gained could significantly enhance candidacy for full-time positions upon graduation.

Requirements

• Must be a student majoring in Sports Journalism or related fields.
• Must be enrolled at a Southeastern Conference (SEC) member university.
• Strong writing skills in both digital and script-writing.
• Highly organized and self-motivated.
• Ability to meet deadlines and work in a fast-paced environment.
• Familiarity with video editing software like Adobe Premiere or Final Cut Pro.
• Ability to capture video and sound using a phone or camera.

Nice To Haves

• Experience with AP style and standards for text articles and broadcast scripts.
• Previous coursework or practical work in journalism or media.

Responsibilities
