About The Position

Valley Christian Schools is seeking a detail-oriented and collaborative Sports Information Coordinator to support daily athletic operations while advancing communication, media relations, and event coordination. You will play a key part in fostering a thriving, Christ-centered athletic program committed to our mission of developing culture changers for Christ. The Sports Information Coordinator supports daily operations, communications, and compliance for the Valley Christian Athletic program. This role assists with budgeting and financial processes, contributes to media relations and digital content management, and coordinates game day and special athletic events. The position helps maintain schedules, facilitates tournament sanctioning and related documentation, and ensures required forms and certifications are completed and up to date. The Sports Information Coordinator works closely with the Athletic Director and collaborates across departments to support school-wide initiatives.

  • Demonstrates proficiency in managing and utilizing social media platforms to support strategic communication, audience engagement, and analytics-informed content
  • Must have excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both written and verbally
  • Ability to multi-task with organization
  • Ability to exercise initiative and sound judgement and to react with discretion under varying conditions
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Use a computer (visual and keyboarding) for long periods of time
  • Able to remain in a stationary position (sitting or standing) 50% of the time
  • Occasionally lift up to 25 pounds
  • At times requires stooping, bending, turning, pushing, pulling, reaching and climbing stairs (2-story)
  • Use of hands, fingers, arms to reach, grip and maneuver objects
  • Must be able to respond quickly to sounds (fire/security alarms)
  • Work in noisy and crowded school environment
  • Able to work a flexible schedule including weekends and evenings when needed
  • Frequent walking throughout the campus
  • Must be able to travel in state between campuses, to vendors, and to related events

  • Previous experience in athletic communications, sports marketing or public relations

Responsibilities

  • Support budgeting and financial operations for the Athletics Department
  • Coordinate media relations and promotional efforts, including drafting press releases and supporting publicity for events, coaches, and student-athletes
  • Oversee digital content updates and coordinate game day operations, including website and social media management, statistics tracking, and media coordination
  • Assist in the planning and execution of athletic events while maintaining historical records and archives
  • Maintaining sports schedules on school calendar
  • Sanctioning invitational AIA tournaments and submitting invoices for them
  • Coordinating and communicating Senior Night events with coaches and parents
  • Preparing athletic announcements and notifying teachers of early dismissals
  • Notifying MarCom with athletic updates
  • Managing driver forms, fingerprint cards, background checks and concussion training for parents, teachers, coaches and staff
  • Adheres to and honors Valley Christians standards, policies, procedures as outlined in the Employee Handbook
  • Performs other related assigned duties
