About The Position

The Sports Equipment Sales Associate at Scheels is responsible for providing exceptional customer service and promoting sales of sports and outdoor products. This part-time role involves engaging with customers, assisting them in making informed purchasing decisions, and maintaining a professional appearance on the sales floor. Associates will receive extensive training to become knowledgeable about the products and services offered by Scheels, ensuring they can meet and exceed customer expectations.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED
• 1-3 months of sales experience
• Strong oral/written communication and reading skills
• Ability to perform basic math and apply concepts of grammar, punctuation, and spelling
• Ability to adapt to a changing work environment
• Demonstrate pride and ownership of work while meeting expected deadlines

• Experience in customer service

Responsibilities

• Greet all customers on the sales floor with courtesy and a smile
• Grow personal sales by hitting minimum goals and following Scheels professional salesmanship standards
• Promote the Scheels Visa Rewards card and explain all benefits
• Engage in conversation with customers and assist them in making buying decisions
• Demonstrate a passion for products in the store
• Attend all Scheels product training and store meetings
• Maintain a professional appearance on the sales floor
• Assist in all other assigned duties
• Perform basic math; compute rate, ratio and percent; draw and interpret bar graphs
• Read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos
• Write simple correspondence and effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations
• Demonstrate strong communication, organization, attention to detail and problem-solving skills
• Help with freight/stocking when needed
• Demonstrate product usage and retrieve product from heights of greater than 6 ft
