About The Position

Under the direction and supervision of the Marketing and Public Relations Manager, the Sponsorship Coordinator is responsible for building relationships and generating revenue with current and potential business partners. This is a Marketing Department, part-time position with 20-25 hours per week expected. Position expected to work nights or weekends on occasion. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB Build relationships through discovery calls to understand sponsor goals and community priorities, laying the foundation for long-term partnerships. Focus on retention and relationship development by offering scalable sponsorship options and year-round engagement opportunities, driving increased revenue and sustainable growth for Gurnee Park District over time. Formalize opportunities with clear pitches outlining available assets. Convert interest into signed agreements once sponsors are ready to commit. Provide sponsors with both event-based and asset-based opportunities to maximize visibility across multiple platforms, ensuring their brand is recognized within the Gurnee community. Alongside the Marketing and Public Relations Manager, creates, tracks, and manages annual fundraising goals and generates a monthly report of accomplishments for use in the Marketing Department Board Report. Develops and executes sponsorship proposals and letters of agreement. Keeps an accurate inventory of sponsorship agreements and fulfillment. Qualifications QUALIFICATIONS Experience – 1-3 years of experience in marketing, sales, corporate relationship management, or related preferred. Knowledge and experience working with Park Districts preferred, but not required. Education - A bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, Business or related field. Equivalent experience will be reviewed. Skills – Proficient in M icrosoft Office including a strong use of Word, Excel and PowerPoint required. Strong attention to detail and comfortable interacting with community stakeholders. Candidate must also possess excellent verbal and written communication skills. Certifications - Valid driver’s license, First-Aid, CPR, and AED certifications are required within 90 days and must be maintained. The District will provide classes for First-Aid, CPR, and AED Certifications. Competencies - The Sponsorship Coordinator is innovative and a self-starter. This position must be able to reach fundraising goals in an autonomous setting . Ability to stay abreast of the latest business trends and tactics especially as they relate to relationship building. A high level of accuracy, attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously. Ability to exercise considerable initiative, ingenuity and independent judgement in the performance of work assignments. PHYSICAL DEMANDS The physical demands of this position are minimal. Most of your job will be at a desk or on site for program or event delivery. Occasionally movement of supplies, equipment, or uniforms is necessary in which case the maximum weight that you are expected to be able to lift is 25 lbs., though typically it will be less than this. Some bending, twisting, and kneeling may be necessary at your desk or in support of marketing supply deliveries or promotional set-ups. GENERAL STATEMENT OF POLICIES, SAFETY, ETC. It is expected that all Gurnee Park District Staff comply with the policies and procedures as set forth by the Gurnee Park District Board of Commissioners. Resources that outline these policies and procedures include the Personnel Policy Manual, Safety Manual, Departmental Manual, Area or Job Specific Manuals and other written or verbal procedures as provided by your supervisor. As all situations cannot be documented even in manuals such as these, it is further expected that your actions as an employee are always performed with safety in mind, respect of your fellow staff and customers in mind, and at the direction of your supervisor. It is expected that all staff learn and understand these policies and procedures.

Requirements
