The Sponsored Research Coordinator II coordinates externally sponsored projects and compliance activities across the full lifecycle of research and sponsored programs, with primary responsibility for post-award administration and financial oversight. Job Description Typical duties include but are not limited to: Manages the administrative and financial activities of sponsored awards following funding, ensuring compliance with sponsor guidelines, university policies, and approved budgets. Monitors and analyzes project expenditures to ensure costs are allowable, allocable, and within approved budget parameters. Reviews and processes award modifications, including budget revisions, no-cost extensions, and other administrative changes. Reconciles project accounts and assists with financial reporting and award closeout procedures. Reviews subrecipient invoices and supporting documentation to ensure compliance with subaward agreements and sponsor regulations. Monitors award timelines and end dates and coordinates timely reporting and project closeout activities. Maintains accurate grant records and documentation within institutional and sponsor systems. Coordinates with finance, compliance, and research administration offices to support effective award management and resolve administrative issues. Provides guidance to principal investigators, faculty, and departmental staff regarding allowable costs, budget management, sponsor requirements, and post-award administration. Verifies completion of required research compliance approvals, including IRB, IACUC, export controls, and conflict of interest disclosures, as required for sponsored projects. Assists with preparation of sponsor-required financial reports and other administrative reporting. Compiles and analyzes research administration data and maintains electronic resources and tools used in grant administration. Provides training and guidance to investigators, staff, students, and collaborators on grant administration processes and compliance requirements. Assists and advises faculty and staff in the preparation and submission of grant proposals, including development of budgets, budget justifications, and required administrative documentation. Ensures proposals comply with sponsor guidelines and university policies. Electronically submits proposals to external funding agencies using sponsor systems and the university’s electronic research administration (ERA) system. Prepares and coordinates subaward documentation, including scopes of work, budgets, and required approvals from collaborating institutions. Researches and identifies potential external funding opportunities and grant-making organizations to support faculty research initiatives. Other Duties: Assists with preparing and developing grant application packages. Performs award negotiation and routing for approval signatures. Other job-related duties as assigned.
