About The Position

Under the direction of the Recreation Supervisor, the Splash Pad Attendant will supervise the daily operations of the Splash Pad at Millennium Park to ensure a safe, fun atmosphere exists for the families in attendance. The H-F Park District’s mission statement is “to enhance the quality of life through diverse recreational opportunities, facilities and parks while caring for the environment”.

Requirements

  • Supervise children at play in an orderly and calm manner.
  • Use tact and diplomacy in dealing with people.
  • Handle money and complete accounting paper work.
  • Work independently.
  • CPR certified.
  • Experience with children and supervision.
  • STANDING: Frequently

  • WALKING: Frequently
  • LIFTING: Infrequently, minimum 15 lbs. / maximum 50 lbs.
  • STOOPING: Frequently

Responsibilities

  • Provide outstanding customer service to our internal and external guests by providing friendly, responsive, courteous and helpful service.
  • Follow maintenance procedures as outlined in the manual.
  • Complete maintenance tasks daily.
  • Ensure adequate supplies are stocked each day.
  • Let supervisor know when running low.
  • Wear Park District uniform when on duty.
  • Verify residency for patrons entering the splash pad.
  • Collect money for non-residents entering splash pad.
  • Distribute designated color wristbands to patrons entering splash pad.
  • Reinforce regulations to patrons. Refer to signage for explanations.
  • Sell/distribute swim diapers as needed.
  • Issue rain vouchers if splash pad needs to close.
  • Determine when to close splash pad, due to inclement weather.
  • Display professional conduct and excellent customer service skills at all times.
  • Assist patrons with concerns, questions and needs.
  • Balance cash, complete daily transaction sheet at the end of shift.
  • Assist with picnic shelter rentals if needed.
  • Find replacement worker if you must miss an assigned shift.
  • Become CPR certified.
  • Must have reliable cell phone for emergency use only.
  • Supervise scheduled private parties as assigned.
  • Oversee shelter rentals to ensure permits are secured and patrons follow policies.
  • Approve refund of security deposits.
  • Attend training sessions as necessary.
  • Adhere to all policies and procedures as outlined in the Safety Manual.
  • Other job related duties as assigned.
